Why are modern teenagers more attracted to online communication than face-to-face communication?

and why is facebook and IMing such a craze...why not read a book or sit on a bench and talk? Why are modern teenagers more attracted to online communication than face-to-face communication?
its easier to talk online then in person plus you wony be able to say something you might regret because you get to over look as many times you want before you send or post itWhy are modern teenagers more attracted to online communication than face-to-face communication?
i love both..im 16..but i like talking face to face with people. its just convenient if you have friends that dont live near you that you want to stay i contact with.

some people i know act all hard when theyre on facebook and msn, gossiping and stuff, and in real life theyre so shy and cant look you in the eyes when they've been back-stabbing other people. its a lot to do with confidence and making yourself seem better, more fun, and more likable.
well i am 14 and i find it easier to say things on MSN than face-to-face because people can't see how i react and i can't see how they react. I feel less vulnerable online. i find it easier to tell people how i feel on there. like if im upset about something, or angry.
Yeah its sad and awful, We're becoming anti social in a way, i'd rather talk to someone in person than a computer. Its not good at all.

But yeah i feel more confident online, and am more funny and stuff.
Because they are lazy and very superficial. Anyone who tells you otherwise does not know what they are talking about.
i dnt no tbh, i admit, im 16 and a facebook addict lol
