  • Any teenagers feel upset about the economic crisis?

I've just been thinking. I'm not old enough yet to actually affect the decision in any way, and I am upset about it. I do not see how it benefited us in the long run. I feel that it will only make things worse for my generation and prolong our financial woes. Does anyone else my age feel they have been short-changed?Any teenagers feel upset about the economic crisis?
Yeah I'm scared they are calling this the new depression I'm scared it will only get worse the price of things is really going up. But I'm mostly afraid they will cut jobs and my parents will get laid off Any teenagers feel upset about the economic crisis?
    I'm 14, I am a little bit scared.

But I hope the government fix it.
im 15 and im very scared of what could happen in the long run

What are the treatments for the teenagers who are abusing drugs and alcohol? and why it is a serious problem?

Actually, this is a survey, so I need it on my thesis. can you answer this question? I'd appreciate it if you do. thanks! What are the treatments for the teenagers who are abusing drugs and alcohol? and why it is a serious problem?
    Treatments vary, but the available ones include;

    inpatient detox %26amp; counseling-usually 30+ days

    outpatient counseling

long term recovery homes (stays of 6 months + are within normal range)

Short term (72 hours) psych holds for being harmful to self or others

12 step recovery programs;AA, CA, NA, etc.

As for why it is a serious problem,...

    1. teens can become addicted at a much faster rate than adults

    2. teen brain chemistry is not fully developed

    3. rampant depression made worse by drug abuse (lets face it---most teenagers are a bit manic depressive in their behavior

    4. Growing acceptance of drug use/abuse-particularly club drugs

    5. inherent dangers of using drugs that were not developed in a legitimate lab.

    6. lowered inhibitions make for more ';social problems'; like teen pregnancy, violence and suicide,...

    7. Common denial associated with teen drug abuse (The ';I am not an addict'; mentality) that most teen abusers have-they seem to think that just because they only do a little bit at clubs or parties, or that they only do harmless drugs like weed, or that true addicts inject their drugs, makes them immune to addiction. (Picture an ostrich with its head in the sand)

    8. the most obvious one; Intoxicated driving kills, maims, etc. What are the treatments for the teenagers who are abusing drugs and alcohol? and why it is a serious problem?
The treatments include, STRONG PRAYER! this is first....................then they may seek the help they need...............The serious problems lie in sinfulness. First. When on drugs and alcohal, people become more sinful........doing many things they ordinarily would not do! Also they can harm someone.Either in a fistfight or on the road. Serious also because many more are now using.....years ago a handful from school were using, now about 80% have used. Seems to be increasing, the drug and alcohal use, not decreasing...............
If I were in charge, I'd create an isolated facility, and give them all the drugs 'n drinks in the world, hoping that they'd all overdose and make more room in this world for me.
Treatments for teenagers are the same as adults, If they are just experimenting, it can lead to severe addiction.
let them grow out of it themselves

i never listened to my parents when they said to stop smoking pot and drinking

    made me do it more
Uh....do you have a report to do or something?

What are the best places for teenagers to work in San Jose, California?

I'm 17 years old, and really want to work somewhere that gets good tipsWhat are the best places for teenagers to work in San Jose, California?
go work at a fancy restraintWhat are the best places for teenagers to work in San Jose, California?
Get a job as a pizza delivery driver. It usually pays minimum wage, but you get good tips on the deliveries, and most places will compensate you for the gas, if not lend you one of their cars. Right now I work for Mt. Mike's pizza, and I get paid minimum wage, plus $1 per delivery, and tips, which on an average night works out to about $17.50 an hour. It's a really easy job too. Unfortunately, I'm not sure if all places accept drivers that are under the age of 18, you'll have to check that out for yourself, but you'll have a better chance at getting a job as a driver than one as a waiter, because waiters need to serve alcohol.

What is the brand that most teenagers wear?

What is the brand that most teenagers wear in school and which one is the cutest brand ??

Thank you %26lt;33What is the brand that most teenagers wear?
I'd have to say a lot of kids at my school love the whole preppy type thing. Or they'll go for the more extravagant type thing they'll go for Juicy Couture, or Ed Hardy.

    Personally...

Juicy's got to be my favorite. What is the brand that most teenagers wear?
well everyone has their own opinion on it i think hollister is the cutest but most girls in my school wear aeropostale and pacsun because they are typically the cheapest... pacsun has the 2 for $55 deal.

I think it depends on where you live
I think that the majority of teenagers including me where alot of Hollister. They have clearnece stuff that goes for cheap but then every teenage girl has a desinger purse like Juicy Couture, Betsey Johnson, Ed hardy.
Just about everyone wears Abercrombie %26amp; Hollister. I prefer Forever 21 %26amp; Charlotte Russe %26amp; delia's.
We have to wear uniform =(

    It sucks =(

    Abby xx
I love forever 21, but thats just me :) im not into the super preppie stuff and it feels like forever 21 was made for me...

  • What are some things for young teenagers to do during the day in NEW YORK CITY?

please help... just anything fun! What are some things for young teenagers to do during the day in NEW YORK CITY?
Well, my kids (16, 13) love to go to China Town and shop! There are sooo many things to keep you busy. Just walking around is fun.

Statue of Liberty...requires ferry ride, but fun.

    Central Park

Must go to Macy's and Saks, Bloomingdales!

Don't forget to go to Toys R Us in Manhattan, this is fun for all ages!

Whatever you do, have fun and stay together! What are some things for young teenagers to do during the day in NEW YORK CITY?
From experience, you can stroll along Central Park, Brooklyn Bridge and see the city. If you're 16 and older with an ID that says your age or something, you can go watch TRL(MTV) in Times Square.

Window shopping is a must, the botiques in SoHo, the designer shops in 5th, Madison and Lexington Avenues, take the NBC Studio tours, see the Empire State, FAO Schwartz, Toys R Us, and other stores that are essentially next to each other. Chinatown for cheap knock-offs, and a tip I can give you, you can get a lower price by bargaining with the vendors usually for a better deal.

You can take the Staten Island Ferry to see good views of Liberty, and the city. Visit Wall Street and World Trade Center.

There's endless possibilities you can do in New York for teenagers, but I would most recommend for you to hang out in the Midtown area where Times Square is at.
    Be in school.

What are some job interview tips for teenagers?

I am going to a job interview next monday and this is my first job interview (I'm 17). What are some good tips for a successful interview?

The tips I see on the internet are all for professional positions.

(That job is in a shop and related to technology... , like Radioshack...)What are some job interview tips for teenagers?
As a middle aged ';Old Dude'; who has interviewed his share of teenagers I have the following advice:

Don't pick your nose, chew your nails or play with your hair before, during or after the interview.

Be sure to take a shower and wash your hair before you leave home. Then comb your hair, and shave if you're a guy.

If you're a guy, and you interview for an office job wear a long sleeved shirt, tie, and long pants. Make sure the shirt and pants have been ironed, tuck your shirt into your pants and make sure your underwear does not show. Do not wear sneakers, flip-flops or sandals, but do wear socks, not white ones. If you're not interviewing for an office job, all of the above applies, but you can lose the tie.

If you're a girl, skirts should not be more than 2 inches above the knee, any more and I might want to take you out for drinks, but not hire you. Don't wear a t-shirt with your favorite band's logo on it, interviewers don't think it's ';cute';. Don't wear anything you think of as ';cute';, wear what you think of as ';boring';. If you wear a skirt, wear stockings and not the fishnet kind either. Keep it down with the makeup.

Lose the piercings, girls are allowed discrete earrings, not the huge dangly kind, guys no jewelery of any kind except a watch and maybe a ring as long as it doesn't cover more than one finger.

    When meeting the interviewer shake hands firmly and look him/her in the eye, smile and say something like ';Nice to meet you';

Do not say things like ';yah, like, duh'; and roll your eyes, you're not in high school and I'm not you're flipping mother, that's the shortest way for an employment application to end up in the shredder.

Don't ask; ';Do you guys have medical, 'cause, like I'm sick ALL the time...'; Now the shredder is working overtime.

Speak in a normal and clear voice, don't yell but don't mumble either, look at the interviewer in the eye, don't stare at the floor, the ceiling, the traffic outside the window. Focus.

If you're a guy and in the middle of the interview the interviewer's really hot assistant walks in with a piece of paper for him to sign, do not check her out and ogle. Yes, she's there as a test to see if you can handle being around customers and coworkers in a professional manner.

Don't lie, ever, it will catch up. If you're asked whether you've done some kind of work tell the truth. For example if asked if you have ever dealt with customers before, and you haven't, say so, but you can add that you always really get along with everyone and that you like to meet new people.

Don't chew gum or anything else for that matter, don't go in with your breakfast or lunch or even a drink save it for later.

Be polite, say: please, thank you, you're welcome, yes and no instead of uh huh and ah ah. If you have to cough or clear your throat put you left hand in front of it, not your right hand because that's the hand you shake hands with, and no one wants to shake a hand you just sneezed into.

Guys, don't arrange ';the package'; during the interview or while waiting for the interviewer, you're not in a baseball field.

All of the above advice is not just for teenagers, it's for everyone, it's amazing to me that there are people in their 30's and even 40's that don't know how to act in public and they've just gotten away with stuff all of their lives. Now we're in a really tough job market, for a filing clerk position I got 1,200 resumes and yet some people come into the reception to fill out an application with clothes that look like they've been slept in, a ';tough guy'; attitude, popping gum and greet me with a ';hey man';.

I've seen it all. What are some job interview tips for teenagers?
A typical question I would ask is:

    1) name me your 3 strongest and your 3 worst sides of you?

And if I where you, I would prepare a few question as well (that shows interest) like:

    - If I get the job, what would you recommend me to do too keep it?

    - (when the interview is don, ask:) any recommendation for me to improve my interview?

    - What are/is the most difficult task of this job?

the above question will out-stand you from the rest.... trust me.
for me, its was being very friendly, mature, responsible, and bright! The first thing they're looking for is an immature kid trying to get a job.just show them your no kid and they'll be too shocked and pleased to let you go!

    Hope that helps some!!

    GOOD LUCK
Be yourself and be as honest aspossiblee. Don't lie on the resima just to impress them because what if there is another person who is better than you for real but you get job because you lied. That would not be cool.
Dress appropriately for the position you are interviewing for.

If they all wear shirt and tie, for instance, do the same.

    Speak clearly.

    Relax. be calm and confident.

    To name a few.

    Good luck to you
Be respectful when you go into your interview. Make sure you keep eye contact and a strong hand shake. Be honest when you answer questions and don't be too serious.
First and foremost is to show up on time.

    Dress neatly.

And if your primary language is english, use good diction.
No matter what, don't make eye contact, it makes you seem intimidating. Wear LOTS of cologne or perfume.
lots of facial piercings = no job for you

Are teenagers getting more depressed with life nowadays in a modern world ?

They dare to take shooting/killing other innocent people to end his life altogether. This seems to be getting contagious. Nowhere is safe. Who is responsible ?Are teenagers getting more depressed with life nowadays in a modern world ?
It is responsbility of all of us to ensure the good future of our coming generation. There are many ways to overcome this problem like never scold teenagers infront of everybody, never compell them to compare with every genious, do not overburden them, motivate them to do yoga. Convey them to bad effects of overviewing of TV especially while eating food, teach them not to eat fast foods, not to use mobiles too much, etc. At last always be contented in every circumstance which ultimately gives us hapiness. Thanks for a nice question. Are teenagers getting more depressed with life nowadays in a modern world ?
In the bible it tells where in the last days youth will start to rebel. For some reason kids are seem to be acting out as a form of needing recognition. Are we ignoring the danger signals.?
Society decline in morals and what children are being exposed too. Parents need to protect their children and stop thinking that a lot of information is a good thing. It has been proven even with all the sex information out there, a report that was released today shows a 19% in teen pregancies. Our children are being forced to grow up too fast with all the media, easy access to porn, and graphic music that is out there. They aren't allowed to be children any longer. Parents who have weapons do not put gun locks on them and lock them up in a cabinet.
No just tring to find another outlet to express themselfs, but unfortunatly some go to extrems.
So the killing of huge numbers of people throughout our history has been fine because it was performed by adults?

As far as kids go- they're individual kids who shoot people in isolated incidents. Generalise, much? If anything's to blame, it's American gun laws.
The problem with kids now days is we build them up.. ';Oh you can do anything you want, Your so special';.. We give them so much that they don't have to work for.. They have big ego's.. We think were doing them good by trying to build there self esteem and by giving them the things we didn't have that they learn or think it's there right to have all this stuff or have things there way in life.. but in reality life isn't like that and when they get a dose of reality they can't deal with it and start blaming every thing else of every one else.. They don't take responsibility for there actions, choices, or short comings.. We need to start teaching out kids ';Humility'; and ';Respect';... And make them work for the things they want and some times even the things they need..
Lot's of things, they are pressed early on to think about the future, Teachers/parents/peers make them feel like failures in live. They are not allowed to be children anymore, to dream and look at the clouds. I look at my children an see that sometimes they have it harder than us adults. I get home from work and get to relax if I want too, with them it's a few more hours of homework, maybe running from one activity to another, and so on. Then back to school and trying to fit in, I would not want to do it and I'm not surprised that some crack under all the pressure our society puts them under.
I think the media and lazy parenting have a HUGE role.

LokoLobo: I LOVE your answer. You hit it on the head.
you can't try to blame someone else, the problem is too big. it's a fallen world.
Listen to LokoLobo down below (or above)

This Christmas is a good time to remind them of

the real story of the Three Wise Kings who

followed the Star that shone over Bethlehem ---tell

Remember these guys were Kings ---you'd

think they would have everything ---Listen my

    Children --Teenagers included ---

THESE are some of the things they didn't

have which your parents give you ---

Houses with Indoor Plumbing ,Air Conditioning,

Electricity , Refrigerators with Soft Drinks,

    Automobiles ,free Schools and College

    Education opportunities ,Books to read

Movies , Ice Cream , Summer %26amp; Winter

Clothing ,Nike Shoes, the Internet ,Cell-

    Phones ---

    and Jet Planes --

(Why else would they be riding Camels

    in the hot desert )

And these were the Kings---what do you think

ordinary folks like your parents had !

    And you're depressed ---no you're not !

    You're nuts !
That is a major generlization. if you go to a high school and look around, you'll see that most kids are perfectly happy and content. you're talking about a few isolated incidents, not the entire teenaged culture.
because this world is turning into a money starving hell hole that has forgotten about the real meaning of life..
I think it is absolutely worse and I think it is the kids that don't fit in. Very sad
To the best of my knowledge, no, teens aren't any more depressed then before. Almost everyone experiences some period of depression during their childhood or teens. The reason things have gotten so bad now, however, is that most families are becoming disconnected. Where most children of the past had their parents as a support group, a lot of parents these days just don't seem to be there for their kids anymore. Whether it's due to both parents working, or just an overall lack of interest in their children's lives, they fail to be there when their children need them, and with no parental figures to turn to, the youth of today are becoming increasingly lost as to how they're supposed to deal with things in life, and what their place is in the world.

With every violent shooting I've read about, most, if not all of them mentioned the parents having no idea what was going on in their children's lives, and I personally believe had more parents taken the time to show their kids how much they cared ( and by that I mean showing interest in their lives, not simply bribing them with fancy gadgets and sports cars) and taken the time to listen to their problems, the youth of today would have been in a much better place.

Also, it is important to remember that though these problems are happening more often, with more people, we also have a bigger population then we had in the previous generation. Therefore the overall percentage of troubled youths is probably more or less the same as it always was.

Can teenagers go to local government meetings?

I'm a teenager and I'm really interested in how government works. Would it be weird for me to attend county government meetings? Can teenagers go to local government meetings?
Sure , please go. Learn how your government works it may give you some light on what happens in even in local meetings.I applaud you for even caring when many your age don't.Can teenagers go to local government meetings?
Yes, you can ... unless you live in a fascist country. But yeah, you're allowed, they're public meetings and people will probably be glad you showed up and took an interest.

Is it a bad idea to have teenagers boxing in my basement?

we use the regulation gloves. its in my basement we do it. if someone gets badly hurt....can they sue me? will i get in trouble since it is on my property? Is it a bad idea to have teenagers boxing in my basement?
The last I heard; boxing is a game and games can legally be played indoors and out.

However, if you are charging money to play the game or teach the game of boxing in your home then different rules will probably apply and you should check with a local authority.

If it's friendly games you're allowing into your home then I say ';great';. Any indoor game played for fun is far better than some of the bad games played on the streets!

Cheers! Is it a bad idea to have teenagers boxing in my basement?
    DON'T DO IT ANYMORE!
Can that idea. It ain't the 50's anymore.

    A. Worry about a lawsuit.

    B. Everybody is uptight in current society with anything dealing with kids. It's not worth the hassle.
    yes, bad idea.
You could get in trouble quite easily..
i dont think u can get sued if they sign a release form or something of that sort. if they do then that would be one hell fo an event to watch
Probably not a very good idea.
I'd say it's def not a good idea.
Yes, you can be sued if someone gets badly hurt. You can be sued if someone gets even a tiny bit hurt. You can be sued if someone gets their FEELINGS hurt. I think this is a bad idea.

What impact have Game consoles had on teenagers?

What impact have game consoles had on teenagers. What impact have Game consoles had on teenagers?
They make us want to play more and make us even more lazy. I get brainwashed and I cant stop playing games. What impact have Game consoles had on teenagers?
Well, as a teenager, I guess I can say it has sort of improved my life while making me a bit more lazy (I am on the track team.) The improvements are that I don;t have ot leave my home to play games or spend ridiculous amounts of cash. It has also helped my concentration A LOT. I can perfectly dissect a rat with no shaking or cutting of mystery parts. I think overall video games are good and bad.
they have less money, and depending on the person learned something about the machines they use and how to make them function better. For example i have a bunch of friends who are all computer programming geniuses and create their own games and mods. grrr. but i guess it depends on how much you get into it
Im currently writing a paper on it. A little bad, somewhat good, but people do not utilize the good. Which is just sad. So your really just stuck with the bad depending on the person.
i am a teenager and i love video games. But they have brain washed teenagers. By that i mean they consume too much time when teenagers can do more constructive things with their time.
Why it turned them all into homicidal maniacs with zero attention span of course...

Just ignore all that hard science that contradicts my assertion...

    CLINTON/McCAIN 08!!!!
Video games don't affect kids - if Pacman had affected us we'd all be running around in darkened rooms, munching magic pills and listening to repetitive electronic music

    oh, wait...

  • What are the best blackberry applications for teenagers?

i can't really elaborate the question anymore than that lolWhat are the best blackberry applications for teenagers?
Yahoo messenger, gtalk, most of the various news sites have a bb icon.

AIM, Google maps..........these are things everyone should have...

The bb isn't really made for teenagers so they don't really have many ';teen'; apps....

Really, a teenager shouldn't have a Blackberry in my opinion. Unless of course they are paying for it themselves...

Would teenagers be interested in working at the hospital to learn how to become a doctor or a nurse?

I just want to see if the typical teen is interested in becoming a health professional in their future, and who would seriously consider a part-time job at a local hospital. I know there are plenty of volunteer jobs, but are high schoolers exposed to jobs available?Would teenagers be interested in working at the hospital to learn how to become a doctor or a nurse?
    I am 15 years old..

I want to work in the medical field when I am older.

I volunteer at ems, and am about to volunteer at the hospitol.

I think that both would be great practice and would look great for a premed scholarship.

I have always wished that I could do more. I am not allowed to ride on the ambulence until I am 16, and all I will do at the hospitol is transport patients.

I have always wished that I could do more. I have always wished that I could how to actually care for patients and at least some basic remedies before I go to medical school.Would teenagers be interested in working at the hospital to learn how to become a doctor or a nurse?
I do not personally want to go into that field but a couple of my friends do. My friends are given a paid internship in high school, does that count as a job. I mean you do make money.
I would love if that was available in our area. I'm a bit too busy with robotics and BETA and student council and theatre and... but I'd make room if you happen to have any contacts in South Mississippi!
id do it! but im not to typical lol

Can teenagers get their books published?

I am writing a childrens story. Can teenagers get their books published?
Yeah anyone can get a book published but it has to be good and you need to strike a deal with a publishing company. Can teenagers get their books published?
Okay ... there's good news and bad, I'm afraid.

The bad news is: Don't just blindly believe the people who say stuff like, ';Yeah ... you just need to believe in yourself and you can do it!'; I'm sorry, but although self-confidence is useful it simply isn't enough. After all, we've all seen those kids who think they can sing on ';The X Factor'; and make utter fools of themselves at the auditions. Not everyone who wants to get their writing published will suceed; only a very small fraction do, and for teen writers the chances are even less. That's the reality - and you might as well accept that right now so you know what you're up against.

Now, the good news: young authors can make it ... sometimes.

Christopher Paolini started writing ';Eragon'; at the age of 15 (published by Doubleday and it's now a major film).

Flavia Bujor wrote ';The Prophecy of the Gems'; at 14 (published by HarperCollins).

And little Daisy Ashford wrote ';The Young Visiters'; at only 9, (published by Chatto %26amp; Windus and dramatized for TV in 2003).

Also at 9, Jayne Fisher wrote and illustrated a series of 12 picture books called ';The Garden Gang'; published by Ladybird.

So by all means give it a go ... but don't be too disappointed if you don't find success straight away; just keep trying ... I'm sure that all of the above needed huge amounts determination to reach their goals! (Although some of them also needed parents in the publishing industry).

Your chances are slim - but it's not impossible ... just very, VERY unlikely! Meanwhile ... I suggest that you read, read, and READ! The more you read the better you're likely to write! That way, even if you don't find success as a teen, you improve your chances of success as an adult.
Actress Ally Sheedy (War Games, Breakfast Club) published a children's book called ';She was nice to mice'; when she was only 12, so it's possible. It helped that her mom was a literary agent, though.
yes they can as long as your dedicated to your writing and to tryong to get it published. The first time I was published was when I was 16.
A good story usually is the criteria, and your age could even be a novelty - IF the story is good. why not try writing short stories or essays where there is a greater market? Writers Market publishes a book of magazine sources. I had my first article published in a small local monthly community paper when I was 17.
Yes. One of my favorite writers Amelia Atwater-Rhodes wrote her first book at 13 or 14 and it was published.
Yes, Christopher Paolini who wrote Eragon did! However, it might be harder to get an agent to take you seriously. Get a writer's guide from the local library or bookstore and read some of the tips. In Canada, there is a guide called the Canadian Writers Guide which lists agents and publishers.
