Are teenagers getting more depressed with life nowadays in a modern world ?

They dare to take shooting/killing other innocent people to end his life altogether. This seems to be getting contagious. Nowhere is safe. Who is responsible ?Are teenagers getting more depressed with life nowadays in a modern world ?
It is responsbility of all of us to ensure the good future of our coming generation. There are many ways to overcome this problem like never scold teenagers infront of everybody, never compell them to compare with every genious, do not overburden them, motivate them to do yoga. Convey them to bad effects of overviewing of TV especially while eating food, teach them not to eat fast foods, not to use mobiles too much, etc. At last always be contented in every circumstance which ultimately gives us hapiness. Thanks for a nice question. Are teenagers getting more depressed with life nowadays in a modern world ?
In the bible it tells where in the last days youth will start to rebel. For some reason kids are seem to be acting out as a form of needing recognition. Are we ignoring the danger signals.?
Society decline in morals and what children are being exposed too. Parents need to protect their children and stop thinking that a lot of information is a good thing. It has been proven even with all the sex information out there, a report that was released today shows a 19% in teen pregancies. Our children are being forced to grow up too fast with all the media, easy access to porn, and graphic music that is out there. They aren't allowed to be children any longer. Parents who have weapons do not put gun locks on them and lock them up in a cabinet.
No just tring to find another outlet to express themselfs, but unfortunatly some go to extrems.
So the killing of huge numbers of people throughout our history has been fine because it was performed by adults?

As far as kids go- they're individual kids who shoot people in isolated incidents. Generalise, much? If anything's to blame, it's American gun laws.
The problem with kids now days is we build them up.. ';Oh you can do anything you want, Your so special';.. We give them so much that they don't have to work for.. They have big ego's.. We think were doing them good by trying to build there self esteem and by giving them the things we didn't have that they learn or think it's there right to have all this stuff or have things there way in life.. but in reality life isn't like that and when they get a dose of reality they can't deal with it and start blaming every thing else of every one else.. They don't take responsibility for there actions, choices, or short comings.. We need to start teaching out kids ';Humility'; and ';Respect';... And make them work for the things they want and some times even the things they need..
Lot's of things, they are pressed early on to think about the future, Teachers/parents/peers make them feel like failures in live. They are not allowed to be children anymore, to dream and look at the clouds. I look at my children an see that sometimes they have it harder than us adults. I get home from work and get to relax if I want too, with them it's a few more hours of homework, maybe running from one activity to another, and so on. Then back to school and trying to fit in, I would not want to do it and I'm not surprised that some crack under all the pressure our society puts them under.
I think the media and lazy parenting have a HUGE role.

LokoLobo: I LOVE your answer. You hit it on the head.
you can't try to blame someone else, the problem is too big. it's a fallen world.
Listen to LokoLobo down below (or above)

And these were the Kings---what do you think

ordinary folks like your parents had !

And you're depressed ---no you're not !

You're nuts !
That is a major generlization. if you go to a high school and look around, you'll see that most kids are perfectly happy and content. you're talking about a few isolated incidents, not the entire teenaged culture.
because this world is turning into a money starving hell hole that has forgotten about the real meaning of life..
I think it is absolutely worse and I think it is the kids that don't fit in. Very sad
To the best of my knowledge, no, teens aren't any more depressed then before. Almost everyone experiences some period of depression during their childhood or teens. The reason things have gotten so bad now, however, is that most families are becoming disconnected. Where most children of the past had their parents as a support group, a lot of parents these days just don't seem to be there for their kids anymore. Whether it's due to both parents working, or just an overall lack of interest in their children's lives, they fail to be there when their children need them, and with no parental figures to turn to, the youth of today are becoming increasingly lost as to how they're supposed to deal with things in life, and what their place is in the world.

With every violent shooting I've read about, most, if not all of them mentioned the parents having no idea what was going on in their children's lives, and I personally believe had more parents taken the time to show their kids how much they cared ( and by that I mean showing interest in their lives, not simply bribing them with fancy gadgets and sports cars) and taken the time to listen to their problems, the youth of today would have been in a much better place.

Also, it is important to remember that though these problems are happening more often, with more people, we also have a bigger population then we had in the previous generation. Therefore the overall percentage of troubled youths is probably more or less the same as it always was.
