What is the effect of violence in the media on teenagers?

Does violence in the media lead to more violent behavior from teenagers and possible mental problems? What is the effect of violence in the media on teenagers?
i think so kindish...i read alot and ive read about teenagers watching things on tv and movies and also what they hear in songs and then turn around and shoot up a place. but really i think its more of the ppl around them that influence it,%26lt;peers, parents, friends, enemies%26gt; the media just gives them sick Wicked ideas mental probs i dunno lolWhat is the effect of violence in the media on teenagers?
Well I'm a teenager and I'm not violent at all, and neither are most of my friends. I don't think violence in the media leads to mental problems, just that people who have mental problems are more vulnerable and susceptable to the influence of violence in media. Perhaps the media is a reflection of culture?
My mother let us freely watch violence on tv and i can proudly say that i have not been into one fight in school, and in fact have never fought anyone. I dont even turn to violence when someone is trying to be violent with me! So i would say NO. lol

I believe that the children who do grow up to be violent had mental issues in the first place and seeing violence on tv only triggered their illness. I also think that a child who is violent experience personal violence in their own home by their families.

I cannot stand it when you see a school shooting, and it's instantly blamed on a the video games or music the kid listened to! It's only an excuse!
i doubt that it does lead them to become violent.

children who are violent are violent on their own.

using video games or violence on tv as an excuse is just a way to deflect accountability.

perhaps they are hoping to plead insanity i don't know, but if they are violent by nature then the source comes from their own mental issues.

it might even be that the parents want to sue.

if anything, they might buy these violent games to play out their violent fantasies, but its not the game that inspires or plants the idea to act violently.

sure these games aren't great role models, but most of us are not so brainless that we would be swayed or brainwashed by them.

i have one creepy violent videogame my sister bought me because she is cheap, and as a joke, and i personally am smart enough to distinguish between humans and computer generated creatures.

(also it scares me but still)

i would say that they are too, as these games are obviously disconnected from real life.
No that's bullsh!t if the kid is violent then he is violent. The media doesn't cause it. How about some parenting and some paying attention to your kids, instead of blaming the media? Do people think about that? What's next I watch a movie about a serial killer and I immediately out of the blue start doing it too? Does that make sense? No.
im sure the KKK only killed people cause they saw it on tv....

no the KKK was Just a bunch of Fucktards. Just like most violent teens. only YOU are accountable for YOUR actions.
People need to be more accountable of their actions instead blaming the t.v., video games and movies. People didn't even have this stuff back in the day and was still violence
Yes!
Yeah, I think Hitler watched way too much tv.
yes look at white people for instance
