How does peer pressure affect teenagers?

I am doing a project in social studies and i need to know how peer pressue affects a teenagers mental state. How does peer pressure affect teenagers?
The teenage brain is still shaping and forming through experiences. The brain doesn't stop developing by the age of 25. Peer Pressure like drugs, alchoal, even perhaps bullying will change the mind cordination and the memories/experiences will be engraved throughout their minds, unless they control it.How does peer pressure affect teenagers?
people who value a specific group, or individual, would naturally care what they think. the reason they value them may be actually caring for them or simply what they stand for. perhaps if one is not content with they way they are being treated, they will attempt to move to where it seems the most fun. if the peers you might be trying to associate with tell you something, and they apparently are having a good life, then even if you would normally have nothing to do with the thought or idea, you would accept it. it seems like it would be a form of unsociallizing and then resociallizing to comform to your peers accepted behavoir, for perhaps fun, or perhaps avoiding feeling alone. *shrug*
Teenagers do not have the maturity to understand what critical thinking skills are. To discriminate right from wrong, ya think its wrong to judge others. Most kids don't realize that they have a responsibility towards life and at an early age they start ignoring their duty and come up with the dumbest excuses why they do what they do and they think they sound smart, and they just grow up to be stupid adults.
It kind of makes you like sacred if what people think, like your paranoid what others think and if they like you and if they don;t like you what can you do to make them like you. like you feel like you have to fit in. It can make kids stressed or sad. If they don't fit in they can feel like an outsider. Some kids spend forever trying to ';normal';. Kids that are really weird think they are normal, but they actually are weird.
i am a teenager in high school. peer pressure cant affect those who dont care what will happen if you do or dont do somthing.

i dont fall into peer pressure. i let my heart and instinct guide me. thinking about things makes you susceptible to peer pressure.
Those who fall for peer pressure are weak minded. It hasnt affected me one bit.
it affects those who are concerned about it

  • What city is better for teenagers (to live) Birmingham, AL or Greenville, SC?

Neither. You're the same person asking about what fun things there are to do in Birmingham.

How unfortunate that I have lived in both of these places...What city is better for teenagers (to live) Birmingham, AL or Greenville, SC?
Thanks for your input - somehow I am skeptical if you are happy anywhere you go or what level of entertainment you need.

I'm travelling to Cambridge for the summer with a group of teenagers, which places should we visit?

I am a teacher taking my students for a summer course in cambridge, we are all from Mexico and would love to know which places are a most in the list of sigthseeing and attractions particularly since they are really keen on visiting london and other popular places.I'm travelling to Cambridge for the summer with a group of teenagers, which places should we visit?
    Well, there's Cambridge..!

The colleges, punting on the river Cam...

(some of the best free entertainment in the world, watching the tourists tryng to punt...)

The Imperial War Museum Duxford for a massive and impressive collection of aircraft and military vehicles.

The pre-fab house there, an example of what many Britons lived in just after WW2 might prove a surprise.

    Away from Cambridge, London, obviously.

I firmly recommend a river trip, to get a good view of London.

From Embankment pier (near the Houses of Parliament) at least to the Tower of London, or out to the Thames Barrier and back... It's about the fastest way to put the centre of London in context, and it's easy on the feet.

There's also lots of other options for day-trips from Cambridge.

    URL's below just for examples.

Any good meaningful songs for teenagers to listen in class?

Would anyone have any suggestions of some meaningful songs for teenagers to listen to as part of a listening activity in class? Something like ';The voice within'; by Christina Aguilera and ';That's what dreams are made of'; by Hilary Duff. Thanks!Any good meaningful songs for teenagers to listen in class?
India Arie, Stevie Wonder, and John Legend have some great songs.

';Wonderful'; and ';I Am Not My Hair'; are nice ones by India Arie.

';So High,'; by John Legend is also great.

There's a song called, ';Me'; by Tamia that is VERY inspirational to young girls. It's a hauntingly beautiful song about loving yourself.Any good meaningful songs for teenagers to listen in class?
I also highly recomend John Meyer!

';hey there delilah'; by Plain White T's
Ask them to bring something in...
    We Didn't Start the Fire

    Candle in the Wind

    How about some John Lennon. Like ';Imagine';

There's one more that I can't think of that I listened to in History class... that's really helpful
    NOT HILARY DUFF!

'I'll follow you into the dark.' by Death Cab for Cutie

'pressed in a book' the shins

    'cheated hearts' yeah yeah yeahs

these are meaningful, but i dont know if they're cheesy enough or give a good messsage. they mean a lot to me, tho
How about ';Hate Me'; by Blue October? It's about the singer's battle with alcohol abuse and how he ends up missing his mother's passing as a result. It's a depressing song, but it's about real life and consequences for your actions.
    How about :

    To Empower by Res

I Am By Your Side by Corey Hart
A good rule of thumb: Stay away from pop whores like Christina Aguilera and Hilary Duff. Look for something with substance.

When teenagers talk about lad lollypop what are they on about?

my daughter was talking on msn and she told her boyfriend he was a good lad looypop what is this?also what is a good meet?and what is shall we fly a kite tonight? When teenagers talk about lad lollypop what are they on about?
This I believe is about sex and sexual things and flying the kite tonight'; is whether they should do it or not that night.

Plus I also think you should be asking yourself why you go looking at your daughters msn convos as this isn't particuarly right is it?When teenagers talk about lad lollypop what are they on about?
when I was young a lollypop lad was a drug dealer

and a good meet- meant a good meeting place

fly a kite tonight means getting high.

You really need to talk to your daughter. There are over the counter drug test you can buy to test you own child. As parents we can't say not my child.
its eather a sexual term or a term for drug use or both!!!
it sounds like they are talking about using drugs. he is probably giving her drugs and flying a kite means getting high.
I agree with the above answer to these codes. I would definitely talk to your daughter she is going to be angry with you for reading her messages but you are her mother. You have every right to do things like this. I know when my mom snooped I would get so angry but I realize now its for the best. Talk to her about it. That's all you can do, and be open and honest and as angry as you might be from the truth or not so truth keep an open mind and try to understand what she says to you.
A lollypop lad is a drug dealer, at least it was a few years ago.
Umm sorry to tell ya but i am pretty sure its about sex since it was in ';code'; she did not want you to know what she was talking about...i just read the comment before mine OK if ur kid is under age u have every right to look at her msn chat geeezz so dont be listen to that girl as a mom u have every right to know her business
I can only guess what those phrases mean, but it couldn't be good. You have every right to read your childs emails, in my house, that is the only way to keep up with the kids! You have to take a pro action stand to keep kids safe from all of the on line prediators out there.
Probaly having to do with oral sex
